I am an Atheist?

Atheist is a broad label.   Everyone is free to use any words they like for their atheism, but is you dont believe its still some form of atheism and there is established classes to define it as well as different styles or expressions to atheism.   Atheism has a few standard stances Explicit “strong” or “weak” or Implicit. No need to use words like gnostic nor agnostic, atheism does not require such folk terms as it is a stand-alone concept.   Explicit “positive” / “strong” / “hard” atheists assert that “At least one deity exists” is false.   Explicit “negative” / “weak” / “soft” atheists do not assert the above but reject or eschew a belief that any deities exist.   Implicit “negative” / “weak” / “soft” atheists include agnostics (and infants or babies) who do not believe that a deity or deities exist and who have not explicitly rejected or eschewed such a belief.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_and_positive_atheism   I add “Axiological” to my atheism to explain how I make my argument for atheism. Axiological atheism is standard philosophy used in atheism arguments. It is classed under a anthropocentric argument for atheism both dis-valuing gods and religions and valuing humanity. Some who hold an opinion that they think it comes out as a nonsense concept is a irrelevant as to disproving its use.   Look under Page 4 Articles in Preparation: “Axiological Atheism and the Problem of ‘The Problem of Evil’,” (in preparation, expected completion Spring 2015) http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:rKHHKQVATdUJ:www.academia.edu/attachments/34372959/download_file+&cd=80&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us   Look under 1.4 Axiological Versus Deontological Formulations   Axiological (atheism) formulation on the “The Problem of Evil”   Consider, now,...

Ten Commandments: Ethics, Justice, or Laws?

So let’s sum up and recap the ten commandments for those of you who may have missed church last Sunday, like I always do… They, also known as the ritual decalogue, are a set of biblical principles relating to ethics and worship, which play a fundamental role in Judaism and Christianity. The 10 Commandments List, Short Form: 1. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall not make idols. 3. You shall not take the name of the lord your god in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet. Ten Commandments and the Hittite treaties There is an important distinction between the Decalogue and the “book of the covenant” (Exodus 21-23 and 34:10–24). The decalogue, it can be hypothesized was modeled on the suzerainty treaties of the Hittites (and other Mesopotamian Empires), that is, represents the relationship between god and Israel as a relationship between king and vassal, and enacts that bond. “The prologue of the Hittite treaty reminds his vassals of his benevolent acts (compare with Exodus 20:2 “I am the lord your god, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”) The Hittite treaty also stipulated the obligations imposed by the ruler on his vassals, which included a prohibition of relations with peoples outside the empire, or enmity between those within.” (Exodus 20:3 “you shall have...

Evidence Against a Caring God?

Evidence against a caring god? I will provides burden of proof. The following are some evidence against a caring god working in the world. A recent study of the current living conditions throughout Africa shows that more than one billion people do not have enough clean water to provide for their basic human needs. As a result, more than 2,500 children are dying each day. I guess it is that god gives us free will by keeping children from clean water in an unproportioned amount to the civilized science filled world. I ask you, does your god not hear their prayers? According to Missionaries of Africa (2008), there is a water crisis and diseases that are living in dirty water are wiping out entire villages and communities. Does god exist? Does the magic chanting of prayer seem to work? Suppose for a minute with the understanding of religious believe, if there was a loving god and it answered even some prayers, would not the most deserving be the non-sinning? Moreover, what living human could be said to be less sinning than a baby and thus the most deserving. In addition, babies or children are likely the ones religionists/fideists pray most often, for when they are in trouble. Belief changes nothing. Whatever circumstances you are in or not, has nothing to do with belief. If you are poor, belief does not make you not poor. If you are rich, you do not stay rich because of belief. You would think that poor people would have the benefit of the heavenly means and have god on their side, if anyone would,...

Devil, Satan, Lucifer, and the Serpent? Guess What They are Not the Same.

The Devil? The Bibles clear teaching is that the wages of sin are death. “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning…” 1 John 3:8 It is impossible therefore to have an immortal being who can sin. If we attempted to suggest that the Devil was a mortal monster then how is it that he has supposedly lived for thousands of years and possesses the powers of disease, deception, death, pain, and torment and is permitted by an almighty god to challenge his authority. The devil is not Satan. It is interesting to note that in the detailed record of god’s dealings with Israel in the Old Testament, nowhere is there given an indication of a personal devil who goes around tempting people. The Hebrew equivalent of the word devil is only used 4 times and is in connection with false worship and idols of wood and stone – not an immortal being. It is impossible for a rebellion to happen in Heaven Jesus himself proclaims that god’s will is done in heaven when he teaches his followers to pray for god’s coming Kingdom to be on earth in what has become known as “the Lords prayer”: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 If god’s will is done in heaven then how is it that a rebellion was supposed to of taken place by the angels, one of which became the so-called monster the Devil. So, if the bible teaches that man is responsible for his own sin and that this sin...
