Attacking Biblical Statements for a “fixed” and “immovable” Earth I Chronicles 16:30: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable.” Psalm 93:1: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm…” Psalm 96:10: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable…” Psalm 104:5: “Thou has fixed the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.” Isaiah 45:18: “…who made the earth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast…” Of course these verses are wrong to claim be “fixed” and “immovable” the Earth’s spins as well as orbits around the sun, but it does not stop there. The Earth’s orbital geometry is not fixed over time. Indeed, long-term variations of the Earth’s orbit may help explain the waxing and waning of global climate in the last several million years. And there is more that is not “fixed” and “immovable” about the earth. Christians can’t say it’s just some error in the bible writers as jesus never stated any parts of the jewish bible (old testament) had any errors. Jesus never said that the Scriptures contain the Word of God. He said that they were the Word of God. Jesus acknowledged this when He said that the Word of God, the Scripture, cannot be broken. This means that it cannot fail. Why? because the written form of the Word of God, which is Scripture, is inspired. And because it is inspired, it cannot fail. It must be fulfilled. Remember, Jesus called the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms (all of the Old Testament) Scripture, and He says that the Scriptures cannot be broken–cannot fail.
