Social intelligence (SI) = “tact,” “common sense,” or “street smarts”

What Is Social Intelligence? Why Does It Matter? Social intelligence is the key to career and life success. Do you have it? Posted Jul 01, 2014 by Ronald E Riggio Ph.D.Cutting-Edge Leadership Intelligence, or IQ, is largely what you are born with. Genetics play a large part. Social intelligence (SI), on the other hand, is mostly learned. SI develops from experience with people and learning from success and failures in social settings. It is more commonly referred to as “tact,” “common sense,” or “street smarts.” What are the key elements of social intelligence? 1. Verbal Fluency and Conversational Skills. You can easily spot someone with lots of SI at a party or social gathering because he or she knows how to “work the room.” The highly socially intelligent person can carry on conversations with a wide variety of people, and is tactful and appropriate in what is said. Combined, these represent what are called “social expressiveness skills.” 2. Knowledge of Social Roles, Rules, and Scripts. Socially intelligent individuals learn how to play various social roles. They are also well versed in the informal rules, or “norms,” that govern social interaction. In other words, they “know how to play the game” of social interaction. Do the needful. Help the needy, simply do all the good you can do in this life as there is no second chance. In this life you only have now to get it right. I realize that the wisest thing I have ever done was be kind. That said it is often a feat of bravery in a too often harsh and careless world. I feel for and am proud of all who are kind and care. Kindness is hard sometimes but it is never a waste, as it strengths humanity as a whole even if it seems squandered on some of its parts. Kindness has a universal value even if it can be often a trying or tiring endeavor at times it makes a better world. To be a champion of kindness with all the trying things or people in life can be quite heard at times. But the task of kindness is often self rewarding in how it is life enriching to others around you. Such recipients of acts of kindness are often motivated to themselves do similar acts of kindness, which can lessen the reaction to the noise of all the trying things or people in life. What if kindness...

You cannot change others, Damien; you can only change yourself. If we were all simply focused on being our highest possible selves than the world would become a better place by proxy.” – Challenger   My response, Helping change other to the positive is a demonstration that I have already had some self improvement and I am doing what is needed to keep improving. And here you are violating your own thinking trying to do what? Change my thinking with your statement? We change people all the time it’s quite common in social animals. If one believes in reality which you say you don’t and it’s because you were influenced by someone to believe that right so it worked this change people thing. And counselling helps people change all the time so you need a updated Belief as your current one is in error.   Behavior Modification Methods: Positive vs. Negative: http://damienmarieathope.com/2015/10/25/behavior-modification-methods-positive-vs-negative/   You can’t change people, by reason and evidence.
