“My name is Lumbuye Ismail. I live in Mityana, Uganda. age 21years old I’m highly passionate about community development and children; which led to the creation of “Alpha Children’s Shelter, Mityana”. My team and I have been working effortlessly to help the needy and orphans struggling here at Mityana but we are really struggling due to lack of supplies at the shelter and from that we normally feed the street children out from different communities as if we get enough food we go to the village and cook for the children and we keep doing like that from village to village and these children need a lot of support since they are orphans and mostly living with there single grandparents who also need support on their day to day life. I can’t do all this alone as I have a team of two people who helped me get registered as a community-based organization in the community so that my work can be done legally and authorized. I got the idea of about beginning this children’s shelter because I myself went through hard times during my childhood when my father died in 2009 as I reached an extent of being unable to find where to live and I hard to stay at there not until I got a blesser who had visited our church and took me to a nearby school and paid my school charges till me completing high school where I stopped and first joined a charity where I worked voluntarily till match when I decided to go to my village and also Begin one there with faith that we shall be getting donors but we still have hope. Our mission is to provide these children with food, clothing, medication and eventually help them get back to school. We need the WORLD’S support, donations, and sponsorship to bring this a realization. I have done numerous number of jobs, soaps to support the children at the shelter, and I was working as an assistant driver, at a certain school in my village, but due to covid-19 school got closed, and I couldn’t work anymore. I usually fetch water and dig for people, so that they can give me some food to take to the shelter, and sometimes, I go to the market requesting for help, that’s how we get most of the support, on which we survive on! Getting the foundation running did not come easy, but with help of a great team, we have successfully:
* Adopted 25 children whom we cater for, by seeing that their daily needs are provided. Due to the high poverty rate of the community, I must admit that it has really been tough for us to raise adequate funds to cater for all their needs.
* We successfully acquired a small piece of land where we cultivate vegetables for consumption. This has really helped in no little way.

Am so happy to share with you as I was collecting firewood for use at the shelter and when I felt tired while I was resting the kids saw my tiredness and what made me happy they also started lifting firewood the small ones.
